Liam NazarekSome of you may have already heard about Liam Nazarek, but if you haven’t here is his story. Liam is a sixteen year old high school student in Canada that wants to play baseball. Coach Mackenzie of the team has a no long hair policy. He insists every player be neatly groomed and as you can see above Liam has got long luscious locks. That seems like a normal request, one that many young men would just deal with and cut. The catch is Liam is growing his hair out for locks of love, a charity that people donate their hair to so wigs can be made for people who have lost their hair because of cancer. Liam’s mother, Ms. Jorgenson, is not very happy with the decision the coach has made so she took to the only place where she could find justice. That’s right, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook!

Coach Mackenzie has enforced the hair rule for seven seasons, which is his entire tenure. Additionally, the decision to bench Liam was supported by the Pincher Creek Minor Baseball Association. Mackenzie believes his job is to develop his players’ character. “To me, the hair issue is part of the uniform…It’s like the hat. It’s like the jersey. It’s all part of the appearance and that’s important to me, to have respect for yourself and for your other teammates.” Ms. Jorgenson’s ex-husband even comes in at one point during the video and agrees with the coach.  Probably why he the EX-husband…

We want to know what the JAT community thinks about this issue.  What do you think should happen with Liam? Should he be able to play? Should he cut his hair? Should he tell his coach he is going to play for the rival team and make it his soul duty to  beat his team? You be the judge!
