Coincidentally, I have been in the biggest mood to watch Gremlins for the past couple weeks. They don’t have it on Netflix, Amazon Prime, or HBO Go. It’s been a struggle.

The best 80’s movie is “The Princess Bride.” I swear if one person says “Labyrinth”…that movie is straight weird. And now I have “Magic Dance” in my head.

Why are the 80s so popular when it comes to themed parties?

Kim P

Kim P.

It’s all about the neon and stretchy clothes, although I don’t think anyone dressed like that in the 80s.

Ashley B.

Ashley B.

Because the fashion is easily recognizable and one is able to recreate it on a budget

Angelo B.

Angelo B.

Is it popular? I have been to a 70s and 90s party, but never an 80s.

Molly K.

I think everyone likes an excuse to wear hot pink, which is why it finally made a bit of a comeback (in my world, it never truly left). Also, who doesn’t love having big hair?

Who is your 80s spirit animal?

Kim P

Kim P.

Red Fraggle from Fraggle Rock

Ashley B.

Ashley B.

Peter Venkman (Ghostbusters was released in the 80s too)

Angelo B.

Angelo B.

I’m going with Gizmo from Gremlins, because just like him, bad things happen when you feed me after midnight. Mostly because if I am hungry after midnight, then D’Angelo is out to play and he gets in all sorts of trouble.

Where does MTV sit on your list of 100 things 80s?

Kim with the rings

Kim P.

I mean, that’s when it got big so… #23 sounds good.

Ashley B.

Ashley B.

Lower than Beetlejuice….oh crap, I said it three times!

Angelo B.

Angelo B.

If I recall correctly, which I don’t because I was basically a toddler at the end of the 80s, MTV was actually a channel that did provide some real entertainment. As opposed to now, where it’s just garbage.

Seeing as how I didn’t have cable until the Snick Era, it doesn’t really rank at all. I look forward to the other responses in this thread because I don’t believe I know anyone who had MTV in the 80’s. Ballers.
